NAVTEQ announces plan to acquire T-Systems Traffic

TISA member NAVTEQ has announced that it will extend its traffic information services into Europe through the acquisition of T-Systems Traffic during 2009.  T-Systems Traffic, which is also a TISA member, provides traffic products and navigation services for the automotive and telecommunications industries, including a ‘premium’ commercial TMC service in Germany which has a number of key PND and automotive customers.

In addition to the market reach, NAVTEQ will benefit from T-Systems Traffic’s expertise in data collection and processing for dynamic traffic information services, and these services will help drive demand for NAVTEQ’s navigation maps.
