Activities
TISA has a wide range of activities supporting the development and deployment of TMC, TPEG and other technologies to create travel information services worldwide. All TISA members are welcome to take part in these activities - if you are not a member, find out about joining.
Key examples include:
- The TPEG Applications Working Group, which develops new TPEG applications for TISA member use and worldwide standardisation
- The TMC New Features Working Group, which creates new TMC event messages and arranges for their integration into Standards updates
- The TMC Location Table Release Team, which analyses TMC location tables and certifies their implementation quality, giving users confidence that they can be safely integrated into map databases
- The Translation and Localisation Working Group, which supports the development of event list translations and other elements required for TMC and TPEG services to work in user's languages worldwide
- Administration of the Conditional Access algorithm that allows commercial TMC service providers to offer their TMC services to a specific set of entitled devices
These activities are overseen by a trio of committees:
- The Technical and Standards Committee brings together the technical development of new features and applications and readies them for either international standardisation or de facto specifications for use amongst TISA members.
- The Content and Service Committee brings together an end-to-end concern for information content and provision to the end-user.
- The Products Committee addresses both TISA product such as provision of Service IDs, Location Database Certifications and translations of events phrases and TPEG Tables and products in the retail market place.
The ultimate body of TISA is the General Assembly of all members. This is represented between General Assembly meetings by the Steering Board, and assisted by the Executive Office which provides coordination, technical and administrative support.
